Let's not talk about architecture
Sunday, June 6, 2010 My year3 project titled: Let’s not talk about architecture. It was a competition. Our group had chosen the theme Displacement of community. The area that we were targeting was the Tiong Bahru wet market. We had a design for each individual stall. We also used colours to replace signage for people to recognize which stall is selling what product. We wanted to enhance the relationship between the community. Hence there were pathway within the stalls. The whole building also have linkage from the first floor to the third floor with timber strips. Shopping Details
This project was named Shopping details. We were surveying the Raffles Xchange and choose a shop of 100 x 100 Square Metre and re- design to a shop we wanted. I was designing a watch retail shop. Having the concept of cubes, I created partition walls of cubes for placing the watches. The partition walls allow people experience the spaces with each turn in the store. Surreal Botany
For this particular project, it was also something to deal with botanical. We were being assigned to study and observed a particular plant. For my project, the plant that I’m supposed to study was the Licuala Grandis. From there, we were to study the colours, extremities, growth, habitat, movement, junctions, reproduction, scale, texture and the structure system of the plant. From the studies, I did my drawings on the 10 terms. From the drawings, mock up models were made followed by the final model. My model was a journey to the centre of the Earth. People will move through the spaces and experience the spaces that were created by the 10 terms of Licuala Grandis. Botanical Terms
This project was titled: Botanical Terms. In this particular project, I am given 3 botanical terms: Filament, Monoculture and Heterotaxy. Having these 3 terms in mind, I had to re-design the existing glass cube stairs which is located in Singapore Polytechnic. We drew the elevation and the sections with details for the existing glass cube stairs and also our re-designed glass cube. Model was then made to show our design for a clearer view of the ‘new’ glass cube stairs. These are the process and some clearer views of my model. final model
Friday, January 30, 2009 These are the images of my final model. I have used acrylic to act as walls at some parts of the house. The stairs are all sloted through the walls. Walls and floors are connected using slotting. It a special house that I have design for Jorn Utzon. The openess of the house allows him to look to the exterior, even in the interior he can look to the other ends of the house at some views. shophouse mock up
